What The Marquee File is

The Marquee File is a file of dispatches, not a box office. Between 2007 and 2018 this domain carried the website of the Southern Ohio Performing Arts Association, the presenter that brought touring shows to the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. Its pages announced seasons, reviewed performances, sold subscriptions, and asked its audience what it thought.

What a dispatch is

Each entry here takes one part of that presenter's work and files it the way the site itself did: dated, brief, pointed at a single event or a single season. The dispatches are ordered by when they would have mattered, not by importance.

What the file shows and does not

The public capture record kept the site's announcements, its reviews, its season pages and its ticket information. It did not keep the box office numbers, the contracts, or the nights that went unrecorded. Where the record is silent, the dispatch says so.

What this site is not

This is not the association's website. The Southern Ohio Performing Arts Association may still present seasons; nothing here is a current announcement, a review you can trust for tonight, or a ticket you can buy. Dates and venue names are quoted as historical record.
